All Reiki Teachers and Practitioners of the Atlanta Reiki Center have sworn to abide by the Codes of Ethics of the International Association of Reiki Practitioners and of the World Reiki Ministry.



  Code of Ethics of the International Association of Reiki Practitioners                 

The Registered Reiki Practitioner (RP) / Registered Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher (RMT) agrees to:

  1. Abide by a vow of confidentiality. Any information that is discussed within the context of a Reiki session is confidential between the client and practitioner.
  2. Provide a safe and comfortable area for sessions or classes and work to provide an empowering and supportive environment for clients and students.
  3. Always treat clients and students with the utmost respect and honor. 
  4. Have a pure and clear intention to offer your services for the highest healing good of the client and highest potential of the student.
  5. Provide a brief oral or written description of what happens during a session and what to expect before a client’s initial session. Provide a clear written description of subjects to be taught during each level of Reiki prior to class and list what the student will be able to do after taking the class.
  6. Be respectful of all others’ Reiki views and paths.
  7. Educate clients/students on the value of Reiki and explain that sessions do not guarantee a cure, nor are they a substitute for qualified medical or professional care. Reiki is one part of an integrative healing or wellness program. 
  8. Suggest a consultation or referral for clients to qualified licensed professionals (medical doctor, licensed therapist, etc.) when appropriate. 
  9. Never diagnose or prescribe. Never suggest that the client/student change prescribed treatment or interfere with the treatment of a licensed health care provider. 
  10. Be sensitive to the boundary needs of individual clients and students. 
  11. Never ask clients to disrobe (unless in the context of a licensed massage therapy session at the client’s option). Do not touch the genital area or breasts. Practice hands-off healing of these areas if treatment is needed. 
  12. Be working to create harmony and friendly cooperation between Reiki Practitioners/ Master Teachers in the community and represent the IARP in a most professional manner. 
  13. Act as a beacon in your community by doing the best job possible. 
  14. Work to empower your students to heal themselves and to encourage and assist them in the development of their work with Reiki or their Reiki practices. 
  15. Be actively working on your own healing so as to embody and fully express the essence of Reiki in everything that you do.

WRM    Code of Ethics of the World Reiki Ministry      

It is our expressed goal to help in the self-empowerment of my clients and bstudents. We are dedicated to the best interest of our Professional Ordination as a Healing Ministers.
 
1: Non-Discrimination: As a Minister I will accept any person who looks to me for counsel. I will accept any person whatever race, religion, age, gender, disability, national ancestry, sexual orientation, or economic condition. Not consider a person's physical, philosophical, or financial condition as a test of worth.
 
2: Responsibility: As a Minister, I have a responsibility to espouse, as far as possible, objectivity and integrity in my profession. Always, model and cultivate the best character and honor for my client/student. Teach my clients/students, helping them acquire autonomy, integrity, and personal health, so that my clients may help themselves. Counsel my client, helping them cultivate their own evolution. Meet all challenges, so that I may fulfil my potential as a Human.

3: Competence. As a Minister, I will recognize that my profession is founded on standards of competence that promote the best interest of society, my client/student, my self, and my professions. Continue to assess my own strengths, limitations, biases, and effectiveness. Strive to recognize when I can no longer be of service to my client/student. Strive to be objective, non-possessive, and professional in my relationship with my client/student. Work for my profession's integrity by encouraging those who wish to practice to get the appropriate education and certificates. Pursue avenues of education and further my personal and professional growth.
 
4: Legal and Moral Standards: As a Minister, I will recognize that legal standards are based on a minimum expected standard. Recognize that what is legal is not always ethical. Uphold the legal and moral codes concerning professional conduct as an ordained Healing Minister Not claim, implicitly or explicitly, professional qualification or affiliations that I do not possess. As a Minister I will not…Ask my client/ student to disrobe or have sexual contact in any way.

5: Confidentiality: As a Minister, I will embrace, as a primary obligation, the duty to protect the privacy of my client, and will not disclose confidential information, in teaching, practice, or investigation. Adhere to the Rules of Confidentiality, while it is legal, regarding records, materials, or knowledge concerning my client. Reveal information gained in confidence only when there is a clear and present danger to the client or to other persons, and then only to appropriate professional workers, public authorities, and persons clearly in danger. Inform the client when information will be revealed, and how that information is to be used. Only release confidential information with permission and signature of client.
